#EndorseThis: Colbert Sympathizes With Fired Bolton (And His Mustache)

To Stephen Colbert, the unceremoniously tweeted dismissal of John Bolton as national security adviser is a moment for sympathy — almost. Colbert sees the war-loving Bolton as a sad figure, resembling “the last walrus on the beach without a mate,” but after all he’s just one more “Trumpling biting the dumpling of dirt.”

Colbert makes the most of this solemn event, with a side-splitting impression of Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin as well as a reprise of the moment during a recent speech when “Trump’s brain spun out on a patch of mental ice.” Most hilarious is the new position he imagines for Bolton’s outrageous mustache, which is “staying on in the White House.”
